Guide to exhibit overseas (2/3)
Before, during and after the event
Exhibiting at international events is the perfect opportunity to promote your business overseas. And it’s also a constant challenge.
Learn how you can maximize your results, the mistakes you should avoid, and the contacts that may help you succeed.
DURING
PREPARE EVERYTHING ON ARRIVAL
So, you arrived at the fair and everything is ALMOST set to go!
You think that something is missing or that some detail can be improved? Get in contact with your supplier (at Bleach Global we support our clients throughout the events) or with the trade fair organization – there is still time for some final touches. Before the official opening of the event, check out the competition and review any alternatives to attract more visitors.
Make sure your team is motivated and well informed about the targets of participating in the event. It’s important to review local customs and etiquette rules, which may vary from country to country and sometimes even from city to city.
Always consider the local currency and be prepared to quote with up-to-date exchange rates to avoid maladjusted budgets that may cost you dearly!
APPLY MARKETING OVER AND OVER AGAIN
Most fairs offer their own tools to promote exhibitors; this service is often free. Here you can promote your company. Be aware that stand location is not enough, attract attention to new products and services and give potential customers a strong reason to visit you.
At the stand, show yourself available and interested to anyone who visits. Avoid spending time on the phone or on the computer.
Keep a record of the contacts made by your team, gathering data on who visits your stand, the reasons for the visit, or any other relevant information. You can use a badge scanner or place a tablet available for visitors to register themselves.
Throughout the fair, create a plan qualifying the visitors, this allows you to prioritize the most relevant contacts.
ENJOY THE TIME OUTSIDE THE EVENT
To enhance the time outside the event, you can take the opportunity to receive some clients and/or promote the team spirit. You can organize a team event or a tour, but be aware that the team should have time to rest, relax and recharge batteries.
Avoid street food and choose a more family-friendly food and restaurants with a good reputation. Drink alcohol in moderation, particularly in countries where behavioural norms are more restricted.
Always have plenty of water available for the whole team, inside and outside the event, so everyone is hydrated and awake for every opportunity.
MAKE AN EARLY-BIRD
If the event is meeting or exceeding your expectations, consider a re-booking.
Thus, you are raising the odds of getting a privileged location, a good space and, in some cases, a discount on the reservation.
