| TOURISM: THE ECONOMIC DRIVER |
The international tourism arrivals have been increasing consecutively over the past nine years, in the first half of 2019, international tourism grew 4%.
This rising on international tourism increases the relevance of the tourists and companies awareness and the creation of policies based on social and environmental sustainability and on the economic and social benefits of the populations.
“Every day, more than 3 million tourists cross international borders. Every year, almost 1.2 billion people travel abroad. Tourism has become a pillar of economies, a passport to prosperity, and a transformative force for improving millions of lives. The world can and must harness the power of tourism as we strive to carry out the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”
António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General
